The success of our Scouting programs depends on dedicated adult volunteers like you. Thank you for your time, energy, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people.
Leader Training
BSA provides comprehensive training to prepare adults for their leadership roles. Many courses are available online through the BSA Learn Center.
Required Training
- Youth Protection Training (YPT) - Required for all registered adults, must be renewed every two years
- Position-Specific Training - Required training for specific leadership roles (Cubmaster, Den Leader, Scoutmaster, etc.)
- Hazardous Weather Training - Required for at least one leader on any outing
Recommended Training
- Wood Badge - Advanced leadership training for adult leaders
- Wilderness First Aid - Advanced first aid training for remote outdoor activities
- BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) - Required for Cub Scout overnight camping
- Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) - Essential outdoor skills for Scouts BSA leaders
